Welcome to The Lede by me, Kiara Joseph. The Lede is a free weekly newsletter that brings the best and latest journalism, media, and marketing jobs and internships straight to your inbox with some industry insights and a bit of commentary.

I made The Lede after a year-long struggle to find a full-time job. I’ve submitted hundreds of applications. I’ve edited my resume dozens of times, and I can’t count how many cover letters I’ve written and to no avail. I still don’t have the right opportunity, but amid my search, I found an opportunity to help others. Thus, The Lede was born. I made a fancy logo in Canva, swallowed my nerves, and created this newsletter.

So here’s how it going to work…

I’m going to continue my frantic search for jobs and I’m going to pass along the very best opportunities. Perhaps we’ll end up competing for the same role. That’s a possibility, but I’ll be relaying a wide variety of editorial, content strategy, marketing, PR, and advertising roles across the country at various job levels, so odds are, we won’t have too much intersection.

In addition to job postings, I’ll send along news and commentary on the media industry and I’ll even update you on my search and career. If this grows the way I hope it will, then this will also be a place for recruiters and hiring managers to submit job listings and a place for up-and-comers to network with each other.

The first issue will be coming soon. Welcome to The Lede!

Sign up now so you don’t miss the first issue.

In the meantime, tell your friends!
